Honest comparisons
Four comparisons, including the ones where we lose.
A comparison page is worth exactly as much as the reader’s willingness to believe it, so these are written to a rule: every competitor claim is quoted from that company’s own public pages, every strength of theirs comes before anything about us, and what we genuinely do not do is named near the top rather than in the footer. If one of their strengths is your actual problem, the right outcome of reading our page is that you buy theirs.

Against how you work today
The two comparisons most subs actually need.
Most commercial subs are not choosing between two products. They are choosing between the workbooks they already have and something else — or they are trying to replace the thing that fills in the form every month. Those are different questions, and only one of them has an answer we are good at.
SubMark vs. spreadsheets
The honest version: what the workbooks genuinely do better, what they cost you on the fifth working day of every month, and the point at which a sub outgrows them.
Read it if: You are running on Excel and a shared drive, and the question is whether software is worth it at all.

SubMark vs. billing-form software
We removed G702/G703 generation in July 2026. This page says so in the first screen, then explains what we hold instead — the schedule of values, the draws logged against it and the retainage withheld on each one.
Read it if: Your month-end pain is the payment application form itself, and you need to know whether we fill it in. We do not.

Against the two products built for subs
The named comparisons, with what they do better first.
Siteline and eSUB are both real products built for commercial subcontractors by people who understand the problem. Each page opens with what that company is genuinely better at, quoted from their own public pages, before it gets anywhere near our side. If one of their strengths is your actual problem, we would rather you found out here than in week two of a trial.
SubMark vs. Siteline
Siteline is deeper than us in the billing-to-cash lane, and says in writing that if field ops, job costing, scheduling or estimating is your primary need you should evaluate other products. Both halves of that are on the page.
Read it if: You are evaluating Siteline and are not sure whether billing is actually the thing that is broken.

SubMark vs. eSUB
The closest thing to a direct competitor we have: same buyer, same trades, since 2008. It is broader on project documentation, it generates the billing forms we do not, and it publishes no price anywhere.
Read it if: You have an eSUB demo booked, or you have been trying to find out what eSUB costs.

Neither of them, for a minute
eSUB vs. Siteline, as neutrally as we can put it.
If you are shortlisting these two against each other, neither company has a page about the other, so here is the short version, from their own public sites as of October 2026. They are not the same kind of product.
Siteline is a billing-and-cash layer. It picks up once the scope and schedule are set and runs the money: payment applications, lien waivers and compliance documents, collections, forecasting, and direct connections into general contractor payment portals. Its own comparison page tells you plainly that if estimating, scheduling, job costing or field operations is your primary need, you should evaluate somebody else. That is unusually honest positioning, and it is also a real limit.
eSUB is a field-and-project platform that has been built for commercial subcontractors since 2008. Drawings, requests for information, submittals, document control, field notes and daily reports are its depth, and it generates the payment application forms as well. It publishes no price anywhere on its own site — there is no pricing page at all — so every route ends at a demo request or a sales call.
So the real question is which end of your month is broken. If it is the billing and the chase, that is Siteline’s lane and they are deep in it. If it is the project record — the drawings, the RFIs, the submittal log — that is eSUB’s. If it is both ends at once, which is the normal condition of a sub with twelve open jobs and three people in the office, that is the argument for one system rather than the better of two halves. Our own two pages are below, and each of them concedes the things these companies do that we do not.
Three things we do not do, up front.
Each of these is something at least one of the products above does, and the reason they are here rather than buried in an FAQ is that you will find out either way — the only variable is whether it is today or in week two of a trial.
- We do not generate the owner-standard payment application forms. SubMark removed G702/G703 generation in July 2026; it can still read a G702 PDF to log a draw. What it holds instead is the schedule of values, every draw you submitted logged against it, and the retainage withheld on each draw — and you keep submitting through whatever portal or template each general contractor requires.
- We do not write lien waiver documents. We track the waivers you owe up the chain, and you upload your own blank forms. There is no workflow for the waivers your own lower-tier subs owe you.
- We have no general contractor payment portal integration. Procore, Textura and GCPay are recorded as the submission method on a job so the office knows where each draw went. Nothing is submitted on your behalf.
Questions about these comparisons.
- Which comparison should I read?
- If you are on spreadsheets today, read the spreadsheets page — it is the only one of the four where the honest answer is sometimes “stay where you are a while longer”. If your month-end pain is the payment application form, read the billing-form page, because we removed G702/G703 generation in July 2026 and you should find that out in paragraph one. If you have a demo booked with Siteline or eSUB, read that page.
- What does SubMark not do that these competitors do?
- Three things, all of them real. We do not generate the owner-standard payment application forms — both Siteline and eSUB do. We do not write lien waiver documents; we track the ones you owe up the chain and you upload your own blanks. And we have no general contractor payment portal integration, where Siteline connects to Oracle Textura and Procore Pay. Any comparison page of ours that hides those is a page we would rather you did not trust.
- How do you compare yourself to products you do not have access to?
- We read their own public websites and quote them. Every claim about a competitor on these pages came from pages anyone can load, read in October 2026 and recorded with its URL before a word was written. Nothing comes from a review aggregator’s summary, and we never attribute a price to a company that does not publish one. Where a competitor has disclaimed a capability in writing, we state it as a fact; where they simply have no page about it, we say that instead — which is a weaker claim, and it is the honest one.
- Do you publish your price?
- Yes, on the pricing page, with the per-seat number and what is included. Neither Siteline nor eSUB publishes a price anywhere on their own site. That is not a dig at their product; it is a difference in how you are expected to buy, and it is the one comparison you can finish in about thirty seconds without talking to anybody.
The cheapest comparison is the one you run yourself.

About these comparisons
Everything stated here about another company was read from that company’s own public website in October 2026, with any directory listing named where it is the source. Nothing is taken from a review aggregator’s summary, and no price is attributed to a company that does not publish one itself. Software changes: features, modules and pricing may have moved since. If something here is out of date or wrong, tell us and we will correct it — including when the correction favors them.
